Q-BASE – THERMOFORMABLE BASE WEB
We can offer a wide range of semi-rigid and rigid reel-stock film which can be thermoformed to produce trays and base webs. Thermoforming trays in line can offer a number of benefits include a large cost reduction over pre made trays. We have developed a sophisticated range of both shallow and deep draw high barrier bottom webs.
A selection of films are available to suit every end application. These consist of a number of variations of Nylon based, PVC and Polyolefin based structures. These different structures allow for desired levels of puncture resistance, formability and seal requirements.

Q-BASE PET (A-PET, C-PET, R-PET & metPET)
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) base web come in many different forms and includes Semi-crystalline PET (C-PET), recycled PET (R-PET) & Amorphous PET (A-PET). All of which can include EVOH to increase the shelf life of the packed product. The addition of PE to each of the PET substrates is also possible. This normally will reduce the cost of your top web lidding. Using a PET base web has environmental benefits as they are recyclable. The clarity on our clear PET base webs is second to none. CPET base web have the benefit of being able to cope with being put inside a microwave and are great for hot fill application.

Q-BASE PA/PE
We can co extrude PA/PE base webs that can are up to 9 layers. This type of base web is usually less rigid than the other constructions we can offer.
The ratio of PA to PE will be adjusted to give the film the characteristics it requires. An increase in the amount of PA will give the film much higher barrier properties.

Q-BASE PS & PS/PE
Polystyrene (PS) can manufacture not only in virgin format but also PS/PE and metPS, the inclusion of EVOH is also an option. We extrude both High Impact PS (HIPS) and Foam PS. Foam PS has a lower density and so can reduce the weight of your packaging but still provide the rigidity required.

Q-BASE PVC & PVC/PE
PVC base webs are commonly used to create blister packaging for pharmaceutical companies. Ridged PVC can also be laminated with a PE layer enabling it to be suitable to a wider range of top web. This type of base web in conjunction with our blister pack top web is the perfect solution for pharmaceutical products. PVC base web films provides a wonderful barrier against moisture and gases thus promoting a longer shelf life.

Q-BASE PP & PP/PE
We extrude polypropylene (PP) in a variety of gauges. PP is a lightweight plastic that has good structural rigidity, meaning that it can be transported well. It also has the environmental benefit of being recyclable.
