Standard barrier |
e.g. Single ply, two ply laminates and three–five layer co-extrusions. |
High barrier |
e.g. Two–four laminates and co-extrusions with EVOH and PA. |
High barrier |
e.g. Two–four laminates (including metalised, foil and coated films) and co-extrusions up to 14 layers. |
Quantum Packaging's specialist team will seek to understand your processing requirements and specify a packaging solution that protects and promotes your products.
MODIFIED ATMOSPHERIC PACKAGING (MAP)/GAS FLUSH
Modified Atmosphere Packaging is often used in conjunction with various packaging methods but commonly with top web lidding across the protein sector.
It changes the ambient atmosphere in packaging to prevent bacteria growth rather than using thermal processes to extend shelf life. Modified atmosphere packaging is gas flushed, replacing air with nitrogen or a nitrogen/oxygen mix. This inhibits spoilage and prevents the growth of bacteria that adversely affect food colour and taste. This technique is used on a variety of perishable foods, including meats, seafood, prepared foods, cheeses and other dairy products. Key benefits are a longer shelf life and a fresher taste.

Q-TOP OPA or PET / PE-EVOH-PE UV
Where clear, high barrier film is required this offers an ideal solution. Suitable for M.A.P applications or the packing of aggressive products. The introduction of EVOH gives the material very high oxygen and water vapour transmission levels. We can add UV protection to the film to increase shelf life of products that do not have outer packaging.
PETx / PE is another film construction that can provide a high barrier. PETx is PVDC coated PET. It can often be more cost effective than ALOX or EVOH. The PETx is laminated to the extruded thickness of PE that you require. The peel strength of the PE can be varied according to the costumes needs.

Q-TOP GP-G
Q-Top GP-G is a coated polyester film and is 99.9% pure polyester in its composition. It is an exceptionally strong film and has been engineered to achieve strong peelable seals to APET, CPET, PVC, PP, PE, HDPE, OPS, HIPS, PS, ABS, Aluminium, Coated and uncoated paper, unglazed pottery. Q-Top GP-G film seals at much lower temperatures than comparable films on the market and will also seal through a certain degree of contamination of sealing flanges.

APPLICATION: Ready meals, portion packs, snack foods, soups, etc. |
Q-TOP PET/metPET/PP
This type of construction can be with or with our metPET. MetPET is PET film that has been metallised with aluminium oxide vapour deposition and will provide high barrier properties. Another benefit of this structure is that it can be reverse/sandwich printed but still include aluminium. The metPET can give the product a beautiful sliver backed finish.
Q-TOP STEAM
Q-Top Steam is available in two variants which allows it to seal to PP & CPET. It is a steamer film with controlled steam release through a specific perforation pattern.
Q-Top Steam creates a high moisture intensity-cooking environment allowing reduction in cooking time without losing nutrients, texture or colour. Thereby this product promotes healthy eating and delivers more colourful and tasty product to the consumer. The result is a superior tasting product that is evenly cooked throughout the meal without drying out the corners. The film is the perfect packaging solutions for healthy options and produces the closest result to a stove top steamer in today’s current market.
Q-Top Steam is composed of two layers of PET which are sealed together with heat seal lacquer. The first layer is lazar perforated and coated with the required heat seal lacquer for what it is sealing to. The second layer does not have perforation giving the packed goods protection. When the product is microwaved the seam will percolate through the perforated layer and some will leave though the sides of the pot. Q-Top Steam eliminated the need to pierce holes in the film prior to microwaving, thus making it easier for the consumer.
Q-Top Steam Peel & Q-Top Steam Weld have high pack integrity during freezing, chilling and transport to the consumer. The Q-Top Steam peelable is peelable post microwaving and before cooking.

Q-TOP MIXPAP (45gsmPaper/12PET)
Mixpap 45/12 is 45 GSM one side clay coated paper laminated to a heat-sealable 12μm PET. Its clay coated surface provides excellent printability. This laminate is generally used for multipacks of yoghurt and it is dispensed as a reel-fed material. The 12μm PET can be a clear film or metallised for effect. Mixpap 45/12 is peel sealable to PS, PP, PE, A-PET, R-PET, C-PET, PVC & Aluminium.
